Biography
Markee Ledge has played an important role in the Bristol drum and bass scene, contributing significantly to the city's musical landscape. He started the club night "Ruffneck Ting," which became a key spot for local drum and bass talent. He also launched the Breakbeat Culture label, helping emerging artists like DJ Fresh and D*Minds get their start. Working with Decoder, their ‘Decoder and Substance’ releases featured on many top labels in the scene. As the main writer and producer for the live act Kosheen, Markee Ledge explored not just drum and bass, but also dubstep, UK bass, and electronica.
His music has been used in TV shows, films, and video games, which has been pretty cool. With his new album "Laws of Emotion" set to release on July 4th, he continues to focus on songwriting and production. This album is another step in his journey of making quality music and connecting with listeners. Through developing live drum and bass performances that blend DJ culture with live instrumentation, Markee Ledge keeps pushing boundaries. Even though all this praise is nice, he’s happiest when creating music, pushing boundaries and making human connections through his work.

"His latest offering, the Space EP on Uprise Audio, shows how a well-known artist successfully changed pace with his alias, Markee Ledge. The EP includes a collaboration with Eddy Seven and features organic tones, emotional vocals, and captivating percussion elements that breathe life into the tracks" (UKBM).

"The first half of the track 'Gemini' makes you feel like you are in a very relaxed setting, starting off gently with some very light pads and a few hi-hats. Then this big rolling 808 pops into play on the drop. There is a female vocal that creeps in and out at various times, which helps push that narrative of relaxation. However, about halfway through the track, those light, airy pads die away and you’re left with this dark, sub-weight sound, plus an almost 2-step drum pattern. It’s a really intoxicating production" (Magnetic Magazine).
Following five studio albums as part of Kosheen, Markee Ledge took advantage of the group’s hiatus to develop his own project. 'Elevate' twists the Kosheen template into the current underground musical narrative, blending soulful, powerful songs with a real deep sound coming from London and Rinse FM" (Resident Advisor)
